Our global insurance broking client had a dual requirement to provide remote access for two sets of users: 1) client-facing and office-based users who don’t have laptops and needed to be able to access email and core applications in the event of business interruptions that prevented access to the office and 2) new teams of experienced brokers who were brought into the firm and needed a standardised deployment of email and core applications.
FutureProof designed a remote access solution utilising Amazon Workspaces.
VPN connectivity from client’s on-premise network to an AWS VPC with authentication against Active Directory integrated into the client’s on-premise authentication platform.
AWS Workspaces running Windows 10 aligned to the client’s corporate standards and connecting to email via Office 365 directly over the internet and core on-premise applications via a secure AWS VPN.
With just a few clicks in the AWS Management Console, we can deploy high-quality cloud desktops for any number of users the client requires – Anywhere in the world, the client has the choice.
Amazon WorkSpaces is charged either monthly or hourly and only for the Amazon WorkSpaces launched. The client has chosen which cost model to use on a workstation by workstation basis allowing both cost models to co-exist.
Finally, using Amazon WorkSpaces has eliminated the complexity of maintaining, patching, and managing a large physical desktop environment or dedicated VDI environment, allowing the IT team to focus on more important activities.
